Maryland Leadership Workshops

For more than 59 years, Maryland Leadership Workshops (MLW) has inspired Maryland youth to realize their leadership potential.  Since 1993,  Leadership Maryland has challenged Maryland's adult leaders to more fully develop their potential.  This synergy is the basis for an exciting partnership where we can exercise leadership to improve our communities.

MLW's summer residential leadership programs are held at Washington College in Chestertown.  The MLW magic created at these workshops helps students emerge as confident, empowered catalysts for positive change.

In order to achieve the mission of reaching as many students as possible, MLW conducts outreach programs in individual schools and communities throughout Maryland.  Programs are peer led and cover a variety of relevant topics. Programs vary from several hours to several days and are specifically tailored to meet the leadership needs and goals of each particular group.

Impacting the lives of young leaders all over Maryland is a wonderful extension of the work of Leadership Maryland.  Our organizations share the belief that leadership is of paramount importance in addressing the challenges faced by society and improving our local communities. As we continue our adventure together, we share tremendous optimism and enthusiasm in carrying out our complementary missions to enable Maryland's youth and adults to realize their leadership potential and further develop the skills and characteristics to succeed in all facets of their lives.

If you know of any middle or high school students who would benefit from a fun, exciting week of learning and applying leadership skills, email MLW at or call 301-527-8222.  Applications for the next program year are located at If you are interested in sponsoring or supporting such a program in your community, please contact Executive Director Anita Anderson
