Speaker Request: "Playmakers: A Global Leadership Program"
Playmakers brings future leaders from the Balkan states to the United States to study and discuss ways of productive coexistence, and to learn about and consider ways in which they can contribute to build tolerant communities in their home countries – all through the lens of their interest in basketball. Participants will learn personal and professional leadership skills by hearing from experienced leaders, observing successful leadership models, and applying leadership principles to team and community activities. The students will take away a new appreciation for their abilities to inspire and lead.
There will be 11 students ranging in age from 20-24 years old. They have all been identified as student leaders by university or embassy authorities in their home countries.
Speakers are needed for:
1. Friday, July 25th from 12:30-2pm to talk about "Defining Leadership"- what leadership means, individual leadership styles, uses of leadership in personal and professional settings, etc.
2. Saturday, July 26th from 12:30-2pm to talk about Conflict Resolution strategies.
Both sessions will be held at the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD.
The organization sponsoring the program, AIPT (the Association for International Practical Training), is a non-profit that has provided educational and professional exchange experiences to enhance cultural awareness, develop global competencies, mutual understanding, and international cooperation for over 50 years.
